Many know of the beautiful Chacala area on Mexico’s Pacific shore, a vacation spot of nearly unparalleled splendor. It perfectly combines the beguiling magnificence of the lush land with the graceful power of the mighty sea.

So, then, what better name for Carolina Escobedo Villanueva to adopt as her own when she began her Lucha Libre career!

The dark eyed beauty from Nuevo León has been competing in the ring for some seven years now, but it has been in just the last few months that she has emerged as a major force to be reckoned with in Lucha Libre Femenil. She was perhaps best known to fans as tag team wrestler, teaming most successfully of late with Polly Star. But in recent months she began to rise, almost unnoticed by many, up the singles rankings. The first inkling for quite a few fans that Chacala was destined for greater things came with a wild battle she had with April Hunter. That match set the stage for a confrontation with perhaps the most popular woman in the LLF, Diana la Cazadora, with the Monterrey City Championship on the line.


In this Best of Three Falls title match, Diana took the first fall, and seemed poised to retain her belt. But in the second round, Chacala pulled out all of the stops, and demonstrated just what she was capable of: She not only won the fall, but did so by making Cazadora verbally submit…a true rarity! Knowing that victory was in her grasp, Chacala battled brilliantly in the third and deciding round, overwhelming the champ before finally putting Diana away once and for all with the feared ‘Bombazo 252’ powerbomb. And suddenly, the LLF had a new champion! (For more details of this match, visit the June 17th Results)

And in the past two months, Chacala has appeared to be about as invincible as any woman in the LLF. She humbled La Felina in a Bull Terrier Match, and went on to defeat Shira and Princesa Yara in the same night during the LLF International Title Tournament! And although Chacala lost the title match that evening against Nikki Roxx, her star has not dimmed in the least.

Not surprisingly, Chacala has set her sites on Roxx now, just as she set them on Diana la Cazadora (although now she admits that she has no interest in wrestling Diana again, since she has already ‘destroyed’ the former champion). In addition to collecting more gold at home in Mexico, she’s also looking forward to having the opportunity to wrestle in Japan sometime soon.


And just how “over” is Chacala with the fans? Well, she’s just about the only ruda who earns chants of support from the fans…often louder chants than her technica opponents receive! But the real mark of success might be through imitation, as more and more wrestlers are starting to employ her signature powerbomb move…and more and more commentators are automatically referring to it now simply as the “Chacala Bomba!”

Without a doubt, La Chacala has emerged as one of the biggest success stories in Lucha Libre Femenil this year, and we are proud to name her as our latest Luchadora of the Month!
