LUCHA LIBRE FEMENIL ARENA

SEPTEMBER 2, 2005

Our regular correspondent was unable to attend the show so we have no exclusive pics for this week.

Heavy rains continue to buffet Monterrey, but that didn’t stop a full house worth of fans from packing the arena to see Friday’s event!

In the first match of the night, POLLY STAR faced AURORA from Canada. The Canadian wrestler displayed an amazing range of technical moves, and often had the ruda in serious trouble. But Polly, despite her rulebreaking ways, is an extremely experienced grappler herself, and in the end, she forced Aurora to tap out with a Palancas a los Brazos (double arm and leg hold).

Next up came the next battle in the “City vs. City War,” as two teams represented Monterrey and Tampico. Last week, the Tampico luchadoras won, and the Monterrey women want to even the score tonight! Representing Monterrey were TSUNAMI and CHACALA, while hailing from Tampico were LUNA MAGICA and DARK MAGIC. Following a tremendous battle that raged all over the arena, Monterrey claimed the victory. After this match, many fans commented that Chacala, who scored the fall over Dark Magic, displayed more technical prowess than usual, suggesting that she is expanding her arsenal of holds, which undoubtedly makes her more dangerous in the ring than ever…if such a thing is even possible!

A Six Woman Tag Match featured the “Destructor Dolls”…TIGRESA DEL NORTE, INTRUSA AND LA BRUJA…against new tag team champions PRINCESA YARA and LA FELINA, along with their partner DONCELLA GUERRERA. The technicas earn the victory here, but only by disqualification when Tigresa ignores the referee and refuses to quit punishing Yara with an illegal hold. An inauspicious start for the new tag champs, who very much wanted a clean win over their opponents to consolidate their hold on the title.

After the match, TSUNAMI, POLLY STAR and CHACALA rushed into the ring to wage war on both teams, apparently to establish that they are the top Six Woman tag team. When the referee, Zorrillo, attempted to restore order, Tsunami laid him out by hitting him over the head with a glass light tube!

In the night’s Main Event, SHIRA faced VAMPIRESA. This was a tremendous opportunity for Shira, who has been slowly working her way up the ranks in the LLF, and has at last qualified for main event status! The baby faced technica could not ask for a more challenging opponent than Vampiresa, and control of the match swayed back and forth between the two. Making matters worse for the two was the fact that a leak had sprung in the roof directly over the ring, dousing the luchadoras in rain as they battled. But they ignored the rain and continue to Finally, Shira hit her rival with a dazzling Hurracarana and put Vampiresa down for the pin!

Another fantastic night of lucha libre action in Monterrey, as the ladies defy the elements and prove themselves more powerful than the raging storm!
