MONTERREY ACTION!
This night featured seven encounters between LLF luchadoras in a variety of different matches as part of a mini-tournament, culminating in a ferocious brawl between the two women who were able to outlast their opponents to reach the finale.
In the initial battle of the night, La Chacala faces Shira in a Bull Terrier Match. To the surprise of many…not least of all Chacala…Shira goes on the offensive from the opening bell, and even though Chacala has a few moments in command, it’s her opponent who dominates most of the match! Her victory advances Shira to the semifinals.
Next, Tsunami faces Reina Vampira in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. The ring couldn’t contain these two as their battle raged throughout the arena, and then spilled outside! The two luchadoras fought in the street as traffic roared past them, until Tsunami finally hit Reina Vampira with a Guillotine and scored the win, advancing the masked ruda to the next round.
The third match saw Tigresa del Norte put her superior strength to good use, as she managed to KO Reina Azteca and move on in the tournament.
A Three Way Dance was next on the card, featuring Diana la Cazadora, Polly Star and Intrusa. Unfortunately for Diana, her two opponents teamed up most effectively to eliminate her. The two rudas then celebrated having beaten their longtime rival, but when Intrusa turned her back on her ally, Polly nailed her from behind with a glass light tube, then pinned her! Polly Star made it clear that she had every intention of going all the way in this tournament, and she would let no one stand in her way.
Tigresa del Norte stepped into the ring against Shira next…but the match didn’t stay in the ring for long! After a hard battle that saw the advantage swing back and forth between the two, Shira emerged victorious.
In what expected would be perhaps the most brutally exciting match of the night (and they were right!), Polly Star fought with Tsunami. Polly attacked her masked opponent with unrestrained fury, hitting Tsunami with anything she could get her hands on…a bat, glass tubes, a metal garbage can. At one point, she very nearly risked Tsunami’s very life when she set a turnbuckle on fire and tried to throw the ruda into the flames! Polly looked to be well on her way to victory…until an angry Intrusa, with Chacala in tow, charged into the ring and attacked her, which allowed Tsunami to score the pin and advance in the tournament!
At last, the final match of the night had arrived, pitting Tsunami against Shira in what was billed as “Extreme Glass 2005!” No one had to be told how much Shira had riding on this match; it was an honor simply to have advances to the finals, but if she could win it against a superstar like Tsunami, she would definitely make the next step up in her LLF career and be considered a true headliner! But just as determined as Shira was to win, so was Tsunami to deny her that victory, which promised an epic battle between the two strong-willed luchadoras. Shira held an advantage in that Tsunami had just come straight out of her brutal match with Polly Star, but the ruda held an edge of her own with her skill as a rulebreaker. Still, Shira was like a woman possessed as she hammered away at her masked foe. Finally, the technica put Tsunami through a table made of glass tubes, then pinned her for the three count!
A truly exciting night of LLF action, culminating in the minting of a new superstar…Shira!
